An Intentional, Intimate Wedding at Eastwind Oliverea Valley

A Thoughtful Catskills Venue for an Intimate Celebration

There is something especially moving about weddings that feel deeply personal from the moment you arrive. This intimate celebration at Eastwind Oliverea Valley in the Catskills was one of those days: thoughtfully designed, effortlessly stylish, and centered entirely around connection.

Set against the quiet backdrop of the mountains, the day unfolded slowly and intentionally. The couple chose Eastwind for its warm, modern cabins and its ability to make a small gathering feel both elevated and grounded. Every detail had a purpose, from the minimal floral design to the handwritten notes they exchanged before their ceremony.

Capturing the Story on Film

A large part of telling their story was photographing the day on 35mm and medium format film, which brought a softness and honesty that matched the atmosphere. The grain, the colors, and the imperfect edges felt aligned with the way the day moved: slow, warm, and unforced. Film allowed the moments to feel even more intimate, especially the quiet in-between frames that often get overlooked.

A Simple, Honest Ceremony

Their ceremony took place on the property, surrounded by their closest people. It was simple and honest, nothing performative, just two people promising their lives to each other. Afterward, everyone gathered for a long-table dinner where the focus was conversation, good food, and being fully present.

Evening Magic and the Iconic Pool Jump

As the sun dipped behind the mountains, the evening shifted into something even more intimate: a cozy celebration under string lights, music playing softly, and guests wrapped in blankets as the temperature dropped. The film frames from this part of the night were some of my favorites, capturing the movement, warmth, and emotion in a way that felt timeless.

And then, in the most iconic ending to the night, the couple jumped into the pool fully dressed while their friends cheered around them. It was spontaneous, joyful, and the perfect closing moment to a day that was equal parts meaningful and fun. The film photos from the pool captured the energy perfectly, preserving the moment with a texture that felt as alive as it was in person.

Why Film and Intentional Design Matter

This Catskills wedding was a beautiful example of how impactful a day can be when you design it around what matters most. Eastwind Oliverea Valley gave them the space to slow down, breathe, and celebrate in a way that felt entirely like them. Shooting on film helped tell their story with the depth and intention it deserved, creating images that will feel just as alive years from now.
